Premarital and Marriage Counseling:

Marriage counseling can help individuals struggling in the marriage to clarify and strengthen self- communication. Marital Assessment tools can help identify problem areas, as well as strong areas that already exist.  Celebrating the strengths and building intimacy through the recognition of weak areas can bridge areas of disagreement.

Further discussion of family background can help couples to develop patience and understanding in areas that have previously run into frustration.  Having a mutual understanding of each other at this level can open new appreciation for each other.  Communication skills are naturally developed through discussion of these challenge areas.

Marriage counseling can involve:

  • Although bridges may have been broken down. Sessions are productive as each partner receives an education in their own history of communication.   Communication is practiced with the counselor’s guidance and open-ness is not guaranteed initially.

  • Assessments need to be done individually. Assessments are done privately on your pc or laptop.  Results are sent to Prepare Enrich and received within a timely fashion.  Your first session is an introduction and explanation of the results.

  • Counseling session are broken up over several weeks. Once the Assessments are complete, the counselor will review the results and schedule 1 hour sessions to discuss and review the results through the lens of each individualized assessment.

  • Each session ends with homework. Scores cover relational dynamics based on core relationship categories and personal stress and personality scales.  Based on Assessments, the couples will have core areas of agreement and disagreement affecting expectations which lead to conflict in the marriage.

  • Premarital tune ups are available to couples for future visits.

Making the decision to go to marriage counseling can be tough. If you have a troubled relationship, however, seeking help is more effective than ignoring your problems or hoping they get better on their own. Sometimes taking the first step by admitting the relationship needs help is the hardest part. Most individuals find the experience to be insightful and empowering.
